According to Director Ruben Fleischer, director of Zombieland, he plans a sequel, but thats not enough. He wants it in 3D! Comes as no surprise right? Fleischer claimed "the genre really lends itself to [3-D]", especially with the advances in the technology over the course of the last few years. The original cast including Woody Harrelson, Jessie Eisenberg, Emma Stone, and Abigail Breslin are all for it to star in the sequel.
Though it seems that Fleischer is getting carried away with himself, after being asked the plot of the sequel he stated simply "Whenever we crack it." Shows how excited he is. Before you mention how it will be filmed, state the plot to see if it will work.
Zombieland grossed $24.7 million in it's debut week, and with the current gross being about $74.8 million, it's no surprise a sequel is coming, though the 3D is really unnecessary. I find 3D to be cute in some kids films, when used properly. "A Christmas Carol", "The Final Destination", and "G-Force" were pretty nicely used. But do we need a "Halloween 3D", "Saw 3D", and God-forbid a "Zombieland 3D". The question remains answered, yes.
